Beginning with the ascension of skepticism in the 16th century and running through the blossoming of anti-supernatural religion in the 18th, the course covers Atheism from its first modern confessor, Denis Diderot, and ending with the atheism of modern existentialism, with an epilogue on the weak gruel that is “modern atheism”.
